CNHC’s Laurallyn Segur Honored As Lightning Community Hero

Tampa, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning honored Laurallyn Segur, Director of Community Relations at Children’s Network of Hillsborough County (CNHC), as Lightning Community Hero at their December 28 game.

The Lightning recognized Segur during the first quarter of their victorious match against the New York Rangers for her dedication to advancing the well-being of local children and families. The award includes a $50,000 donation to CNHC from the Lightning Foundation and the Lightning Community Hero program, presented by Jabil.

“It is a true honor to be recognized and the culmination of a career spent in service to our children,” Segur said. “We are thankful for the funds that will be used to improve families’ lives and make a difference for many years to come.”

The $50,000 donation will support CNHC’s Intensive Family Services Team (IFST). This impactful diversion program provides services and support to struggling families when they need it most. IFST works to keep children safe at home – and out of the foster care system – creating better outcomes for children and saving taxpayers millions of dollars by investing in families upfront.

Segur has over 38 years of experience in the child welfare field, from working in a residential treatment center for adolescent boys, to serving as a case manager, to holding an array of leadership positions. In her previous role as a Senior Director of External Relations/Licensing in Pinellas and Pasco Counties, she oversaw the recruitment and licensing of over 3,000 foster homes. At CNHC, she builds vital relationships with local organizations and community members to create positive change for children and families.

CNHC is the nonprofit lead agency selected by the state of Florida to administer the child welfare system in Hillsborough County. Since beginning service on July 1, 2022, CNHC has emerged as one of the state’s top lead agencies for adoptions, reducing the number of children in out-of-home care, facilitating family reunifications, and more.

“We are grateful to the Lightning for recognizing Laurallyn, who is a true champion for children and a vital part of our revitalization of child welfare in Hillsborough County,” said CNHC CEO Terri Balliet.
